Intro to Boxing - Geary, NB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Intro to Boxing, 12, 14, 19, 21 May is now open. The application deadline is 18 April 2025

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Get ready to build strength, confidence, and technique with our 4-session beginner boxing program.  Soldier On will partner with Pivot Boxing, this program is designed for all fitness levels, these sessions will cover the fundamentals of boxing, including stance, footwork, punches, and basic defense. Each session combines technique drills, cardio, and light conditioning to help you develop coordination, endurance, and power. No experience needed—just bring your energy and get ready to learn.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 12.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from within 2 hours of Geary, NB who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

*NOTE FOR SERVING MEMBERS: The selection of serving members for activities outside their local regions for which members will be on TD will align with CAF direction on financial expenditures.

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

12, 14, 19, 21 May 2025
1020hrs-Arrive and check in with OPI
1030hrs-Intruction and training
1130hrs-Finish and departure.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 1 hours of moderate-high paced activity. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

This program is open to all abilities, with no prior experience required. While basic mobility, coordination, and endurance can be helpful, we welcome participants of all skill levels and can modify exercises as needed. Mentally, a willingness to learn, focus, and stay determined will help you get the most out of each session. Whether you're looking to build confidence, improve fitness, or just try something new, this program is designed to support and challenge you at your own pace.

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
