NCR Ottawa River Fishing
The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the NCR Ottawa River Fishing on 28 MAY 2025 is now open.
The application deadline is 20 APRIL 2025 .
AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Soldier On, in collaboration with Ottawa River Guided Fishing guides, is thrilled to host a full-day fishing event in Rockland, ON, on 28 May 2025. This is a great opportunity to experience the benefits of fishing on the beautiful Ottawa River and learn or refine your fishing skills and knowledge. Don't miss out on this chance to connect with fellow Soldier On members and enjoy the beautiful outdoors and a day on the water!
This is open to all registered Soldier On members, serving or retired in the NCR Region. Travel assistance is not provided, however there is no cost to attend the event and all fishing equipment will be provided.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
from the NCR who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.
Selected
Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
8:15 am: Arrival and Welcome Briefing
8:30 am: Launch and fishing
12:00 pm: Lunch – on shore (participants to provide their own lunch/snacks)
12:30 pm: Launch and fishing
17:00 pm: Conclusion of daily activities and cleanup
TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that meals and transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel and meals are not eligible for reimbursement for this event.
Mental & Physical Requirements:
Participants must be able to tolerate up to eight (8) hours of light paced activities. Due to the activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.
Participants are advised that this event will be held outdoors, and weather conditions can change on the lake. Participants are expected to dress accordingly for the weather conditions.
Participants will be required to wear a life jacket
at all times while around the water and on the boat.
Participants will be required to physically get themselves in and out of the boat
Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
