Cooking Course in Levis, QC

Soldier On will host a cooking course, in collaboration with Madame Germaine, on March 29-30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This creative activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and creative lifestyle. This Cooking Course will contribute as a tool to wellness and recovery for the participants.

Participants will engage in a series of two lessons of three hours each on two consecutive days. One Chef instructor will assist and guide the participants during the activity with techniques and flavors. Participant must understand that this activity will take place two consecutive days.

During the courses, you will cook recipes as a group and learn new ingredients. Let yourself be guided to discover the culinary specialties and customs of the country in a friendly atmosphere. You will be transported to a new country through a cultural presentation and anecdotes. You will eat a tasty meal throughout the experience!

Includes all the ingredients, all the equipment, the animation and the explanations, the recipes written in electronic version, and a unique moment of escape! Does not include beverages other than water.

*Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothes and shoes for cooking on a stand up position.

Assistance throughout the event will be provided courtesy of Madame Germaine.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to eight (8).

Minimum eligibility criteria
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from Quebec and Lévis geographical areas (90 minutes by car, South and North shore) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Serving Members
Medical clearance may be required by your chain of command but is not required by Soldier On.

Mental & Physical Requirements  
  • Participants must be able to tolerate three hours of low rate physical activity on two consecutive days with a moderate level of concentration for intructions.
  • Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.  
  • Participants should be able to perform light lower and upper body movement without being in violation of any MELs.
Nomination Forms must be received by Soldier On no later than March 17th, 2022 at noon.
