Intro to Pickleball - Victoria, BC
The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Introduction to Pickleball: Victoria Area, March 3 to 31, 2025 is now open.
The application deadline is 7 February, 2025 at 1200hrs PST
AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:
Soldier On is excited to partner with Victoria Regional Pickleball Association to offer our Victoria area members the opportunity to participate in an introductory series of lessons to the quickly growing in popularity sport, Pickleball.
Over the course of 5 sessions, selected participants will receive coaching on the fundamentals of the sport, be introduced to game-play and strategies, and will be provided the opportunity to participate in a small inter-Soldier-On-tournament.
Participants are asked to be prepared to attend all 5 sessions as this series builds on skills taught in previous lessons.
Don't have equipment? Not a problem, equipment can be provided to you.
If you have your own Pickleball paddle, or equipment, you are encouraged to bring it with you, if not, equipment will be on site and ready for you to use!

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
from within a 60 minute driving radius of Victoria, BC who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.
DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Please be prepared to arrive at Naden Athletic Centre (CFB Esq NAC) 15 minutes prior to the start of every session
Monday, March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31st from 1530-1730 hrs
Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 2 hours of moderate to high paced activity during pickleball sessions, one to two days per week. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.
Applicants must not be in violation of their MEL's.
Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.
Applicants are advised that the this activity will be hosted on a Canadian Armed Forces base/facility, and thus they may be exposed to a day-to-day military environment.

Soldier On, PSP and CAF TG aim to provide a safe environment for all participants and staff. To ensure everyone’s safety, applicants understand that they should aim to adopt personal practices focused on communicable disease prevention such as health awareness, staying home when sick and regular hand cleaning to help prevent the spread.
