Pickleball Camp - Saguenay, QC

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Pickleball Camp on February 12th and 13th 2025 in Saguenay, QC is now open. The application deadline is Friday January 17th at 12:00.

AIM AND SCOPE OF THE EVENT: 
Soldier On is organizing a 2 day Pickleball Camp in collaboration with www.intencite.ca in Jonquière, Saguenay. During the event, participants will be joined by a qualified instructor and they will be able to learn and develop new Pickleball skills and techniques in a new indoor sports facility. Regardless of the current skill level, up to 8 participants will have the opportunity to use the sport of as part of their recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 8 (eight)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Large Saguenay Region (within 90 min of car travel) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Wed Feb 12th, 13h00 - 15h00 (lesson #1)
Thur  Dec 13th, 13h00 - 15h00 (lesson #2)

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation and meal will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 2 hours of light/moderate of indoor paced activities for 2 days in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.  To safely and enjoyably participate in this pickleball camp, applicants should possess basic hand-eye  coordination, mobility, and the ability to follow instructions. Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.

In order to be considered for selection, all serving members must also complete and submit a chain of command authorization form by the application deadline.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASE PREVENTION:
Soldier On, PSP and CAF TG aim to provide a safe environment for all participants and staff. To ensure everyone’s safety, applicants understand that they should aim to adopt personal practices focused on communicable disease prevention such as health awareness, staying home when sick and regular hand cleaning to help prevent the spread.
