BLUE MOUNTAIN SKI-SNOWBOARD WEEK

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Blue Mountain Ski/Snowboard week 2 - 7 March 2025 at Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario is now open. Application deadline is 12 January 2025.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
This activity will provide an opportunity for Soldier On members to participate in skiing or snowboarding at blue Mountain Resort. Regardless of the current skill level, participants will receive expert instruction in both downhill skiing or snowboarding as well as adaptive downhill to include sit ski. All participants regardless of skill level will be in a group with an instructor throughout.
 
Accommodations, meals, lift passes, rentals, helmets and instruction will be provided by Soldier On and Blue Mountain Resort.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 20.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Southern Ontario, Eastern Ontario, and the National Capital Region who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: A detailed agenda will be provided to selected participants prior to the event. Participants should expect to be with the group throughout the day and during all meals. 

Key Timings are as follows.
2 March 2025 - Travel to Blue Mountain Resort, expected arrival time 1500hrs;
3-6 March 2025 - Daily ski/snowboard lessons; and 
7 March 2025 - Travel day, expected departure is 0800hrs.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Travel assistance will be provided and coordinated by the Soldier On Regional Coordinator in conjunction with Soldier On Operations. The most economical means of transportation to and from events will be prioritized and discussed with members via the event OPI or their delegate.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Participants must be able to participate in 5 to 7 hours of moderate to high paced activity for four days in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day.

Skiing and snowboarding can be physically demanding activities. Participant should be able to participate without being in violation of their MELs. If you are unsure if this activity is right for you please consult your doctor.

Participants are advised that this event will be held mostly outdoors, and weather conditions can change quickly in alpine environments. Participants are expected to dress accordingly for the weather conditions.

Participants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. Participants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed in the accommodations, and will be required to share accommodations.
