Jiujitsu and Equine Experience - QC

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Jiu Jitsu (Terrebonne) and Equine (Mirabel) Experience event on December 11th and 12th 2024 is now open. The application deadline is Friday November 15th at 12:00.

AIM AND SCOPE OF THE EVENT: 
Soldier On is organizing a 2 day event in collaboration with www.dojofusion.ca in Terrebonne and www.equi-sens.ca located in Mirabel, Qc. During the Jiu Jitsu event on day #1 in Terrebonne, participants will be joined by qualified instructor and they will be able to learn and develop new Jiu Jitsu skills and technics in a professional dojo facility. On day #2, participants will be able to learn about equine equipment, equine care, stable management and horse riding at Equi-Sens Ranch located in Mirabel. 

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 8 (eight)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Large Montréal Region (within 90 min of car travel) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event locations. The following meal will be provided during the event: lunch on Thursday Dec 12th at 12h00.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate 4-5 hours of light/moderate (interior and exterior) paced activities for 2 days in a row. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. Applicants should be comfortable and have the ability to follow instructions around horses. Additionally, applicants should have basic mobility and coordination, the ability to transition from a laying position to standing without assistance, and the ability to follow instructions in a hands-on setting. 

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment.

To ensure everyone’s safety, applicants understand that they should aim to adopt personal practices focused on communicable disease prevention such as health awareness, staying home when sick and regular hand cleaning to help prevent the spread.
