Montréal Canadiens Hockey Camp-QC

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the Montréal Canadiens Hockey Camp: November 3th to 6th 2024 is now open. The application deadline is Wednesday October 9th 2024.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:  Soldier On in collaboration with the Montréal Canadiens and Montreal Canadiens Alumni will host a hockey camp in Montréal, Qc from November 3rd to 6th 2024.

Up to 18 ill/injured serving or retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces will have the opportunity to use the sport of hockey as part of their recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration. The aim of this activity is to provide an opportunity for both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members to use the sport of hockey as part of their recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration.  Regardless of the current skill level, the participants will receive expert coaching through drills as well as play a game vs the Montréal Canadiens Alumni and finally, will attend a Canadiens game at the Bell Center. Participants will participate in hockey drills and a game which will be comprised of 1-4 hours of moderate to high paced activities for 2 consecutive days.

Participants will need to supply their own hockey equipment. A jersey will be supplied by Soldier On. Participants will be required to share accommodations. 

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 18.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the QUEBEC region, located in the Montréal geographical area (within a 2hr car travel only). who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

*NOTE FOR SERVING MEMBERS: Amidst current financial limitations and a federal directive to reduce defense spending within DND by a Billion dollars, serving members' participation in Soldier On events and activities will now be limited to within their own local    region (i.e., selection for event outside of where they reside is unlikely). As a result, serving members are advised that participation beyond their local area is likely to be denied, as Soldier On cannot sponsor any temporary duty status for serving members in order to align with government guidelines for expenditure reduction. Unfortunately, serving members are not authorized to participate in Soldier On activities and events while on leave.*

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate.

Sun Nov 3rd - 16h00 Check in at the hotel, briefing, group diner
Mon Nov 4th - 10h00 Tour of the Bell Center / 14h00 Practice and Drills
Tue Nov 5th - 09h00 NHL teams morning skates / 15h00 Game / 19h00 Cal vs Mtl game
Wed Nov 6th - 10h00 Check out and departure

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:

Group meals will be provided throughout the event only. Accommodations will be arranged and paid for by Soldier On.  Participants acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed in the accommodations.
*Accommodations are double Occupancy, 2 participants will be in one room.

Participants are advised that transportation to and from the event will not be provided by Soldier On. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event starting location (Hotel Renaissance). Please also note that unfortunately parking fees at Hotel Renaissance will not be covered by Soldier On. We encourage participants to get a drive from a friend or a family member to save on any parking fees. 
Note that Soldier On will provide a bus during the activity for travel to/from the hotel to the activity sites on Nov 4th and 5th.
